Clevtronics E-Waste Recycling Service

E-WASTE IN BRIEF

E Waste Electronic waste (e-waste) is classified as waste associated with disused electronic products - computers, television, digital watches, electronic toys, electronic medical products, pocket calculators, mobile phones, portable devices and so on. Many of our modern domestic equipment like washing machines and refrigerators are now automated hence are also categorised as electronic goods. Giving the rapid advancement in the science and engineering of electronics combined with the tremendous demand for household – plus office - electronic commodities, managing e-waste resulting from goods which are no longer of value is a growing concern. The relatively short lifespan (4.5 years) of most electronic items also drives the need to carefully manage waste created from discarding the products.

RECYCLING E-WASTE

E-waste is a significant part of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Every year roughly two million of WEEE products are disposed of by households and commercial enterprises in the UK alone. It is estimated that home appliances make up forty percent (40 %) of WEEE goods - Health and Safety Executive (HSE). And according to World Health Organisation (WHO), a wide variety of harmful elements and compounds that constitute significant health risks to the public can be found in e-waste. Chemical materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, brominate-laden flame retardants and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are considered potential sources of hazard to humans if not well disposed of. Therefore at Clevtronics we are determined to play a part in managing e-waste responsibly through recycling - in order to make our environment sustainable and a lot more habitable.
